Student Portfolios
The main purpose for student portfolios at Helen Keller Elementary is to provide students with a forum to reflect on and celebrate their personal growth on a regular basis and over the course of time. Portfolios are intended as, "a celebration of active minds at work." (Making the PYP Happen, p. 50)
Beginning in the Fall of 2017, Helen Keller Elementary chose to make the transition to digital portfolios using a platform named SeeSaw. Each HKE student has a private Seesaw account, which includes a folder for each of the 6 IB PYP Transdisciplinary Themes. Each school year, a child will chose one artifact from each theme to demonstrate their knowledge and growth. This artifact will be saved in their digital portfolio, along with a reflection from the student.
